My name is Jo Turner, and I am a photographer originally from Auckland, New Zealand, living in Toronto, Canada. I graduated from the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) with a degree in photography, and I spent the last 14 years in South Korea teaching ESL, and freelancing as a photojournalist.
My particular foci are on geometry and decay, and the passage of time over powerful shapes and symbols. I have spent over ten years traveling through East and South Asia, the Middle East, North America, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, documenting the architecture and relics of civilizations here and before. I work to capture the people and colours of the places I go.
I also work as a photojournalist, and have been published in VICE; Modern Drunkard Magazine; Xtra, a leading Canadian LGBT magazine; Outpost, a large circulation Canadian travel magazine; and Groove, Korea’s highest circulation English-language magazine.
